Lisa Woodcock-Burroughs, PhD, LP, NCSP, Psychologist in Ann Arbor
My ideal client would be school-aged and experiencing emotional and/or behavioral symptoms that impact interpersonal and academic functioning, such as depression because of poor school performance or vice versa. With children, these things are so often tied together and I have found that targeting both, simultaneously, results in the greatest level of symptom reduction and improved outcomes.
I specialize in treatment of school-aged persons (ages 3-29), using a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques. I operate from a cognitive behavioral framework. My goal is to teach my clients skills which will facilitate independent coping. We start planning for discharge at intake.
Because I have training and experience in both clinical and school-based work, I am uniquely qualified to work with clients whose symptoms cause difficulties in home, community, social, vocational and academic settings. I take the time to learn what makes my client's unique and tailor interventions accordingly.
