Judy Petrushka, LCSW, CDVP, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Glen Ellyn
Are you experiencing a setback or have you had one in the past? Has your child's behavior changed or development regressed? I work with clients that are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or have concerns centered around a child. I believe trauma and life stressors can take a toll on mental and physical health. I help clients uncover inner resources and move beyond past incidents so they do not rule the future. I work with children, adolescents, adults and families.
I utilize a client-centered, strengths-based approach and employ a variety of evidence-based treatments including EMDR and Somatic Experiencing depending on my client's unique circumstances. I often employ expressive therapies in art or play to explore feelings and experiences in ways that words can't, to gain insights into a path forward.
I have specialized training for the treatment for children under 6 that have experienced at least one traumatic event. This can help support and strengthen the child/parent relationship and help improve the child's cognitive, behavioral, and social functioning.
