Michelle Bloom, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in New York
I believe in a holistic and mindful approach, working actively with my clients to understand the unique relationship between mind and body, as well as relationships with others. I work with individuals, couples, and families who want to make changes in their lives yet struggle due to fears, lack of support and/or confidence, or mistrust. Typical areas of my work include life transitions within familial and/or romantic/marital relationships, professional career changes, and anxiety, depression, and fear of change. I help clients overcome emotional blockages and gain a sense of confidence in themselves and their ability to make changes in their lives.
I have extensive training in Attachment based Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. My specialties include Couples Therapy, Emotional Dysregulation, Attachment-based Trauma, and Sexuality/Intimacy struggles. Being a Birth Doula, I also see pregnant and new parents during pregnancy and postpartum transitions.
My priority is to create a practice that is flexible and meets the individual needs of the clients I work with. I work with clients individually, in couples, or in groups, and offer flexible scheduling, pricing, and modes of communication including video sessions, phone coaching, email and text communication.

Healthy Mothering

This group is geared toward expectant mothers and/or new mothers. This group is different than a typical 'new mom's group;" because its orientation is around the psycho-emotional challenges that come with the changes of becoming a mother. This group is an opportunity to share your thoughts and feeling around this life transition, body image, work stress, your relationship to your partner, sexuality, and anxiety around navigating your health and the health of your family so that you can love and enjoy mothering.
