Sara Yap, PsyD, Psychologist in San Mateo
Sara Yap is not currently accepting new clients.
My approach is strength based and recognizes that we all come to treatment with certain needs; however, we also have a myriad of strengths that can eventually assist us in improvement. In my work with clients, I believe that the most impactful and meaningful work is done when there is collaboration in treatment. My role is to support you so that you can move towards the goals and values you envision. As of 5/25/17 I do not have any openings.
I enjoy and have experience working with adolescents, adults & families. My practice incorporates utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT, addressing the thoughts, behaviors and feelings that affect our actions and emotions), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT - incorporating mind/body integration as well as CBT), mindfulness, as well as person-centered and systemic approaches.
I have extensive experience and expertise in working with depression; anxiety; relational issues; life transitions such as moving, job stress and grief; trauma; transgender/gender spectrum concerns and sexuality.
