Laura Hawley, LCSW, Lic, Ac, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Philadelphia
People often engage in patterns of feeling, thought and action that reliably lead to suffering. These patterns may arise from responses to difficult and even traumatic experiences. They made good sense at some point, but now get in the way, causing anxiety, depression, shame and frustration. I work with people to bring increased awareness to the human potential caught up in old patterns, and via that awareness, to an enhanced sense of choice and self confidence and ease. My work draws on your wisdom, as well as my own.
I've helped many people challenged by family history, trauma, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, burnout, isolation, grief and chronic illness to resolve difficulties at work, home or in relationships. I use mindfulness to help cultivate self compassion, and conversation focused on developing strengths that foster change and stability in your life.
Combining talk therapy, mindfulness training and years of experience as an acupuncturist gives me deep confidence in your ability to heal and grow. A close and kind listener, I use story, metaphor and humor in my work. My focus is on getting results in the context of a caring relationship.

Mindfulness for Care Giving Professionals

People in caring professions such as teaching, social work and medicine are not often taught how to care and maintain balance for themselves, despite the multiple stresses this work can involve. Left untended, stress leads to fatigue, irritability and burnout. In this workshop participants will learn simple mindfulness practices, and participate in facilitated conversation about sources of stress, and about mindfulness as a means of stress management and self care.
