I am well trained in multiple theories and methods for helping people to feel better and act in ways that they prefer to act. I am respectful and empathetic and one of my primary goals is help you to feel hope that you will get through even the hardest experiences. I have seen how much a good therapeutic relationship can help to restore that hope and to expand your options for coping and for changing.
My specialties include promoting resilience and recovery following painful or traumatic experiences, teaching skills for effectively managing upsetting thoughts and emotions, helping people relate in healthier ways to others in their lives, working with couples and families to improve their communication with each other, helping people gain insight into patterns they repeat, encouraging people to be more compassionate towards themselves and to recognize the strengths they do possess.
In addition to seeing clients in my private practice, I have also taught clinical courses within the MSW program at a local university, including Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, Group Therapy, and Trauma Therapy. My teaching has enabled me to stay current with the best approaches to helping clients to achieve their goals.
