Welcome is how I want you to feel in therapy. I have nearly 30 years of experience to teach you skills to serve yourself and others. Motivated people address their mood disorders, trauma, work stress, past and present relationship/family problems to move forward. I use EMDR for trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness techniques together with psychodynamic psychotherapy. I learned to respect that most people know themselves deep down and may need a few new tools. Psychiatric hospital work provided a wide view of how badly some people hurt AND how to help themselves with some new tools and perhaps medications. I have 23 yrs experience in EMDR and trained with Francine Shapiro, PhD. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT], mindfulness techniques, and traditional psychotherapy skills.
Prior to counseling work, I had the privilege to be on the front lines of counseling/administering the HIV test in the '80s at the med school in Denver, CO. I also assisted some really smart physicians who taught/teach family practice, internal medicine, allergy, asthma, and immunology at UCHSC.
