No matter how successful you are, you feel empty, anxious, and afraid. You believe wholeheartedly that you're defective or too much. Even though you have friends and family, you still feel alone, different somehow. It doesn't have to be that way forever. You can learn to connect in safe and trusting ways not only with others, but also with yourself. A history of trauma, abuse, abandonment, neglect - you've been told your whole life to just get over it. It doesn't work that way. I'm not going to lie - therapy is tough work. Overcoming oppression and trauma doesn't come through trite tips & tricks you can get in any self-help book.
Healing and growth take time - and you shouldn't have to do it alone! What you need is hope. Trust. Letting someone else carry the past with you. Accepting your shadows while learning to not be ruled by them. Maybe most important... getting to know the strong, worthwhile person you already are inside.
My specialty is working with those who have a history of complex trauma and/or family discord to learn to enjoy life instead of just surviving it.
