I am a LCSW, offering treatment to children, adolescents, and adults, with a speciality in working with children. I help clients handle their emotion and behavior with different situations throughout their life, ranging from managing anxiety, regulating emotions, temper tantrums / social skills in childhood; to peer pressure in adolescence; pressures of college, finding your career path and maintaining relationships in young adulthood; adjusting to various life transitions come middle / late adulthood (relationship issues, adjusting lifestyle when children leave home, illness, caring for children and parents simultaneously).
These are only a small gamut of life transitions that could take over and overwhelm some of us at one time or another. Treatment involves developing skills to cope with the issue in an appropriate and nonjudgmental environment. Sometimes people choose solutions that might add to a problem, with good intentions.
It can help to make the best choices when people understand themselves and the situations better. With some clients, we might work together to identify and replace maladaptive emotions, thoughts, and behavior. I also apply psychotherapeutic counseling and other counseling skills, depending on the individual's emotional and behavioral needs.
