Hey there! I’m Katie. As a therapist I assist people through all of of life's ups and downs. armed with compassion, humor, and a nonjudgmental attitude I help people tackle obstacles and reach goals. First off, let's acknowledge the elephant in the room – therapy can be intimidating. It's not every day you spill your innermost thoughts to a stranger. But that’s where my job comes in, I will work to build a relationship with you at your own pace and get you to a place where you feel able to be open with me. You can expect some genuine conversations, maybe a few laughs, and yes, possibly even some tears.

Grab a hot beverage, your favorite cozy blanket, and let’s sit down together. A huge aspect of success in therapy is our relationship; if you’re not feeling connected and safe, then we’ve hit a roadblock. I consider the time with you and my other clients as a sacred time. I believe you have the internal wisdom to guide you through your current circumstances and together, we can find that inner voice and honor it. I specialize in working with clients that struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, and life changes.

I truly believe that our past impacts the way we are today; I feel it is important to address those past experiences in order to change the way we show up presently, in hopes for a healthier future. I am passionate about using a holistic approach, looking at the whole client and how all of those pieces impact one another. If you feel ready to look past your symptoms, I am here with you on this journey. I believe it's important to meet a client where they're at with their goals; I use a collaborative, direct and trauma informed approach.

In our work together, my intention is to hold a space in which you can begin to relate to yourself with a sense of curiosity and gentleness. This includes growing the capacity to be with your internal experience, as it is, without the need to numb or distract in ways that are destructive or self-harming. I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself is integral to the healing that takes place in therapy. When we feel safe enough to trust and open up, then we can begin the work we need to do on ourselves.

Looking for counseling for your teen or child? Wanting a stronger connection with your spouse? Have you noticed that you do not feel much joy in your life, and are desiring a change? Do you have family conflicts that you'd like to resolve? Need help achieving your goals? You've come to the right place. Hi, I'm Natalie. I have a private practice where I provide counseling to children, teens, and adults. I realize how scary it can be to reach out for help. " A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. " I can be the one to stand with you and conquer.

Broken relationships, tragic events, deep rejection, and unspeakable abuse all contribute to the unrest and pain in your life. I believe there is hope for healing, reunion with others, and a way to awaken the deep longings and desires of your heart even if the events and people of your past tell you otherwise. I strive for counseling to be a pathway for you to have a life characterized by wholeness, vulnerability, and risk. Although I use the same clinical grid as most counselors, I hold a Christian world view that influences my counseling orientation.

My name is Joy and I have been in the mental health field since 2015. My first professional experiences were with grief counseling and restorative justice intervention. These experiences showed me the power of connection and I am committed to using our relationship to help you heal. The first step in effective tinkering is to look at all the parts because all parts are valuable. I use a combination of techniques from humanistic, neuroscience-based, attachment theory, and solution focused to help you explore relationships, emotions, identity, and purpose.

People are often drawn to therapy when they are struggling and in pain, when they are in a time of transition, or when they feel themselves to be on the edge of growth. Often these areas overlap. I have been a practicing psychotherapist for decades and I continue to deeply appreciate the journey of healing and discovery that therapy can be. Where are you on your journey? What type of support and connection are you seeking? I make an effort to return calls within 24 hours. Please reach out if you need more information or would like to hear a human voice.

You are the guide on this journey. You deserve the freedom to grow in a way that is meaningful and valid for your voyage in life. You will not be lectured or pressured to pursue a path that is not yours. Growth takes time, energy, and empathy. Vulnerability is challenging, and I will do my part to create a space where you feel comfortable to process these experiences. I will celebrate your success and be there for during life's missteps. I am honored and look forward working with you.

Waitlist for new clients
While I am personally on a Waitlist, my agency is actively accepting new clients! We all face stumbling blocks and challenges as we move toward our goals. My aim is to help you navigate these challenges and reach the goals that matter to you. I recognize that every individual is different and that there is no one right way to support you. Instead we will work together to find the best way to tackle those stumbling blocks. We can use a variety of approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Seeking Safety, etc. I also work with several other clinicians who can offer Family Therapy (based on availability).

I’m so glad you’re here. You are most likely looking for support in your partnership, and I trust I can offer that. I am a therapist and coach who specializes in relationship and sex/intimacy struggles. I love working with couples to help them re-access connection and uncover the true roots of their struggles. Often times the challenges are both deeper than we think, and also more resolvable than we think.

Certain events often precede the beginning of our therapy journey. Grief, relationship crossroads, breakups, divorce, job and career changes, moving, starting or completing school, some sort of “bottom” related to a painful behavior — I’m familiar with these challenges. Therapy can inspire a deeper exploration and a new way of being.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Longmont?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
