John Skandalis, MA, LMHC, Marriage & Family Therapist in Seattle
Men: Are you hard on yourself and find it hard to be close to your spouse? Do you lack joy and passion? Have a hard time identifying your feelings and what you truly want? I can help you find your lost desires and create the loving relationship you want. Women: Do you find it hard to speak up for yourself? Find yourself giving to others without receiving the support you need? I will work with you to find your voice and speak up for yourself. I also specialize in helping couples communicate clearly and remove the roadblocks to intimacy.
I listen thoughtfully and give honest feedback. I give my clients "homework" to carry their growth work forward between sessions. I put an emphasis on creating a space where couples can have a real relationship and address the underlying issues that keep them distant.
I use my sense of humor, and fold in the lessons gathered over 28 years of being married and 25 years in practice to help you toward your goals. In addition I offer my hopefulness and professional experience to all parties in the process of growth.

John Skandalis's Groups

Men's Group

This group meets once a month on the second Saturday. We focus on creating healthy male relationships that help the members prosper in their professional and personal lives. The group is lively and the men speak honestly to each other about themselves and their challenges. The group focuses on integrity, becoming emotionally literate and forming a male community that supports each man on their path of growth. In addition the group has two weekend retreats a year. There we focus on deepening the relationships in the group to support each member creating the life they truly want to live.

Co-ed Psychodrama Groups

I co-lead two groups that are co-ed and meet weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The groups help clients work through childhood traumas and gain new perspectives to help them function better in their adult lives. We use psychodrama as a way to enact their stories and use the resources of the group to help create new, affirming stories they can then begin to live out.
