Suzanne DeMontigny ::: Integrative Trauma Recovery, MA, LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor in Boulder
My professional mission has been to help traumatized adults heal and recover from the adverse childhood experiences that disrupted their lives. I specialize in Trauma and PTSD and work primarily with adult individuals and relationships (couples, marriages, partners, and other living arrangements). I also facilitate women's support groups. I help my clients experience a stronger sense of themselves, develop resiliancy, emotional regulation, greater distress tolerance, better interpersonal relationships, more capacity to recognize triggers and patterns and get close to others, and overall feel safer, grounded, and more alive --- often for the first time in their lives. Trauma is treatable.
I have trained in a variety of treatment modalities that I offer on a individual basis, as assessed and appropriate. I utilize a gentle, integrative, strengths-based, body-centered approach that recognizes the cognitive, physiological, psychological and spiritual impacts of trauma, that bridges mind, brain, body and soul.
My background includes both formal psychotherapeutic training, body psychotherapy training and trauma-focused training, along with in-depth study and practice of Eastern mindfulness (meditation and yoga). I also teach coping skills and healthy self-care drawn from MBSR, EFT, transformational breathwork, trauma & attachment-sensitive yoga and therapeutic essential oils.

Suzanne DeMontigny ::: Integrative Trauma Recovery's Groups

Women's Trauma Support Group

Over the course of this 8-week group, you will learn how to be in relationship to your 'self' in a more securely attached way. The group will focus on recovery from the impact of childhood trauma through structured work and homework. If you are a woman who has experienced abuse or neglect as a child, has some previous experience doing trauma-focused work in individual therapy, has achieved some control over ptsd symptoms and not engaged in self-harming behavior, substance abuse, or been hospitalized during the past year ... then this may be a support group just for you.

Abandonment Support Group

The trauma of abandonment can linger in the body and be covered in shame where it undermines self-esteem and self-compassion. This group is focused on supporting women to recognize their attachment patterns and other relational wounds that seriously interfere with their relationship from within. New coping strategies and self-care practices are taught to support awareness and trust in your own mind and body. We work with the five stages of abandonment laid out by Susan Anderson including: shattering, withdrawal, internalization, rage and lifting.
