I consider it an honor to be allowed entry into someone's life as a therapist. People come to me when some suffering or limitation has opened them up enough to ask a perfect stranger for help. My hope is to provide a safe and respectful place for them to begin to look at the various strands of their lives and stories. Then, as we unravel past and present contributions to the fabric of their lives, we can examine these threads and, with new understanding, weave them back together into a new tapestry which includes fresh possibilities.
In general, I try to meet clients where they are and with them, determine what would be helpful. At times this could be very practical, such as providing information, or training that could relieve symptoms. Other times it could be creative, as in working with symbols from dreams or fantasies.
My down to earth style tends to help create a comfortable atmosphere for clients to be themselves. My dog has been know to attend sessions at times. She listens well. A sense of humor also sometimes helps.
