I believe that early experiences influence one's self-concept, expectations and behavior. Change occurs through emerging self-discovery and understanding, within a safe therapeutic relationship. Therefore the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of psychotherapy; it is a process in which both the client and therapist actively participate.
I have studied psychoanalysis, early childhood development and attachment theory. I am also familiar with recent brain research and cognitive behavioral methodology. I attempt to incorporate my understanding of these fields into my practice; however, my work with each person is fashioned around his/her particular needs.
I've worked in various settings and treatment modalities. I have taught early childhood development and parenting classes, have directed an outpatient drug treatment program and have provided training and supervision for students and clinicians. Please leave your number on my answering machine; I'll return your call.
