Rev. Sheri Heller, LCSW, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in New York
Life itself is a creative process which relies on metaphor, imagination, and resourcefulness to heal wounds and restore faith. The humanity and intimacy characterizing the steadfast bond between a client and therapist inspires this creative process and offers a powerful foundation for healing which can result in illusions being being stripped away, the truth unlocked, and the real self reclaimed. I specialize in accessing and mobilizing one's innate creative resources seeking expression, so as to effectively treat complex PTSD, addictive disorders inclusive of love/sex addiction, and women's issues. I am also committed to support thriving through life-affirming exploration.
My treatment approach is eclectic. I draw from a psychodynamic, humanistic, behaviorally oriented knowledge base, and I am also influenced by Jungian psychology. Diverse spiritual and creative vehicles, bodywork and psychopharmacology are also integrated into the treatment process as warranted.
Additionally, I am a playwright, free-lance writer and the creator of a therapeutic theater event for underserved traumatized women. My journey of recovery was told through an animated film short by OC87 Recovery Diaries and aired on the PBS station WHYY in May 2017. Wider distribution will occur on PBS in October 2017.

Rev. Sheri Heller, LCSW's Groups

Psychodynamic Support Group for Artists

If one is inadequately cared for there are likely narcissistic wounds that hinder manifesting aspirations. These oppressive wounds and shame based beliefs can stymie creative expression. The inner critical voice may incessantly remind one of the defeating messages internalized throughout the years, sending the message that you don't have the right to express yourself creatively and authentically. Through mutual support and empathy artists will encourage each other to know that their inner truth matters; that they matter. Through dynamic processing of core injuries which hinder creative expression and success, conscious reparative solutions that allow new healthier ways of being and creating can occur.
