I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 20 years of experience. My passion in counseling is helping individuals reconnect with their authentic selves and with others. While I have specific skills, knowledge and training, my clients are the "experts" of their own lives. In counseling we work together to help the person find his/her own answers. I believe each of us has our own inner wisdom and my role as a psychotherapist is to help the client access that wisdom.
Many things in life today can pull us away from the self...depression, anxiety, disordered eating, alcohol and drugs. Therapy is a time to stop and just be with the self...My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment for self exploration.
My style of therapy is eclectic. I use psychodrama, an action alternative to traditional talk therapy. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and have extensive experience working with eating disorders. I am also trained in EMDR, which is helpful in working through issues related to traumatic events.

Healing Eating Disorders With Psychodrama

Psychodrama, an alternative to traditional talk therapy, allows individuals to express thoughts and feelings through action. It is particularly helpful for those who suffer from an eating disorder, as the eating disorder behaviors/actions often speak louder than words. The disorder may at different times feel like a friend or foe, nurturer or punisher. It may help to comfort and empower, or even help with survival. This group will help you shift from those unhealthy roles and behaviors into healthier ones. Allowing you a chance to become more connected with your self, your body and with others.
