Diana Powell, RP, DipCTP, CAPT, BA, Registered Psychotherapist in Toronto
Do Brene Brown's talks on shame ring true for you? Shame can affect your freedom to live the life you want. I will help you with the impact shame has on you, as well as the anxiety and depression that accompanies shame. I listen deeply without judgement or an agenda to help you feel safe with me and transform distorted beliefs. Please see www.dianapowell.ca for more details. I also study Buddhism and its integration with psychotherapy; I use Buddhist mindfulness with interested clients. I can help you restore a sense of hope in your life.
I see shame as a sense of being defective, which causes fear of exposing this vulnerable part, and constricts expression of who you truly are. I can help you reduce the pain of shame and increase your spontaneity, using trauma techniques, mindfulness, working with the body, and parts work.
Therapists must undergo therapy in order to limit blind spots (or unconscious collusion), so that you will feel safe to talk freely. I was required to undergo intensive personal and group psychotherapy before and during my training. I also enjoy working with clients of multicultural backgrounds.
