Harland Curtis, MS, LMHC, Counselor in Edmonds
In my work with individuals and couples, "what hurts" inevitably centers on how one feels in relation to particular others. Whether you are feeling anxious, hurt, or despairing, identifying and addressing core interpersonal issues can quickly ease tensions as you find meaning and clear expression in your own voice and listen more carefully to others. As you learn and practice new ways of thinking and relating you will develop a larger sense of self in relation to others that will lead to a healing of old wounds and a more clear and centered sense of self in the world.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY: I work with adult men and women with depression, anxiety, family of origin neglect or abuse issues, adult traumas, loss, anger, shame, and low self esteem. As all of these issues stem from relational patterns, past and present, our work will inevitably focus on healing these patterns.
MARRIAGE COUNSELING : My approach is educational and interactive. Partners identify and work with problem areas such as differences in communication styles, ways partners impact one another, boundary issues, and mismatched agendas. You will express yourself and listen to your partner in new ways that enhance empathy, reciprocity and healing.
