Maria Ines Butler, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Fairfax
Are you struggling to cope with the past and feel ready for a new outlook on life? I specialize in working with issues related to anxiety, depression, sexual abuse & trauma, grief and loss, intimacy issues, relationship difficulties as well as life transitions and acculturation issues. I encourage clients to take an active role in their healing journey and believe that individuals are experts of their own life experiences. I help clients develop their strengths by providing a safe space where they can gain insight, explore possibilities and develop coping skills. I am both bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural.
I use a strength based client centered approach focusing on clients' resiliency. As a "Third Culture Kid" myself, I am aware of the importance of processing issues many Third Culture Kids face such as loss & grief, acculturation and adjustment issues as well as the culture shock that often accompanies "returning home".
I believe in the strength of the individual, their desire to change. I strongly believe in the power of a non-judgmental and supportive therapeutic relationship and empowering clients to live fuller and happier lives. Change is possible, I invite you to take your first steps in your healing journey.
