Deborah S Cohen, LCSW, BCD, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Manhasset
If you are reading this page, you are probably in some kind of crisis or difficulty you have not been able to sort out by yourself. Although this can be uncomfortable, it also provides great possibilities for change. As a trained therapist with over 25 years of inpatient and outpatient experience, I have a broad array of experiences and techniques to help you effect the changes you want to make in a way that is gentle and respectful. Although it may seem impossible, individual change, changing a troubled relationship or getting your family back on track are all within reach.
Working with many different kinds of difficulties including depression, anxiety and phobias, I have special training in eating disorders, family and marital therapy and trauma. I take an active approach in which clients and I collaborate on goal setting and evaluating results.
Certified in marital and family therapy, I also serve as a faculty member of the International Society of Stress Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD). I am trained in EMDR which can help facilitate rapid resolution of certain issues. My work as a teacher allows me to stay current on ever evolving trends in the field.
