Carol Friedlander, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in New York
As a dynamic, highly skilled therapist with over 25 years experience, I have worked with hundreds of individuals and couples to achieve greater happiness and inner strength. My approach is interactive, flexible and pragmatic. I try to create a safe, warm and accepting environment in which you don't feel judged, and in which we work together to understand you and heal your distress. As we uncover feelings, we also work to recognize and build on strenths, so you can use them in your own behalf and build self-esteem.
With individuals, I can help with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, isolation, and relationship difficulties. I tailor treatment to meet your individual needs, and incorporate various treatment methods, including supportive, cognitive-behavioral, and insight oriented psychodynamic therapy. With couples, the work often centers on communication, and uncovering deeper underlying issues.
My experience includes an internship at Bellevue Hospital, several years at Beth Israel's outpatient therapy program, as well as years conducting therapy at private clinics. I have an Advanced Degree in Clinical Social Work from NYU, and studied Couples Counseling at The Ackerman Institute of the Family.
