I enjoy treating individuals, couples, and families. Having had extensive training in the treatment of couples and years of experience in a correctional system, I am well versed in numerous issues of concern such as, various addictions, depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, relational and family of origin issues. I have twenty years of experience as a clinician and also possess a Registered Nurse license with years of medical experience in the field of trauma and critical care. I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, an evidenced based treatment for trauma) and also trained in Trauma Focused CBT.
Many couples have been able to save their relationships and improve communication with the "three of us" working towards this goal. Trauma has been recognized as a cause for numerous difficulties. EMDR has been proven as an effective way to treat such issues. Having received specialized training, I am able to utilize this effective technique.
Special factors that are unique to my practice are that I am a Registered Nurse with years of medical experience as well as a Marriage Family Therapist. I am also an adjunct professor at a local University, and possess sixteen years experience in forensic mental health in a County Jail system.
