I am a board certified psychologist with 40 years of experience. I focus on present experience, correcting defensive patterns that cause painful symptoms, stress, disregulated states, and relationship problems. "Glitches" in our nervous systems created by earlier experience can be "re-wired". Therapy provides resources and the intimate interpersonal experiences that were missing before. Whatever states are aroused can be safely explored and mastered. When our whole systems, body heart and soul, work properly, receiving help when it's needed, we have a sense of well-being, even in difficult times, and can move towards our life and spiritual goals.
Therapy usually builds such qualities as slowing down, centeredness, body awareness with the emotional intelligence that comes from feeling and reading one's emotions, compassionate self-observation, a sense of creating one's life through reflective choices, self responsibility, interdependence, and love and commitment to oneself and others.
I have had a daily mindfulness practice for many years and have had 4 years of training in spiritual healing which can become a part of therapy if clients request it.
