Donna Gable, PhD, Psychologist in Santa Monica
My approach combines psychodynamic therapy, which helps develop self-awareness, with cognitive-behavioral therapy, for more exterior, but equally important, changes. I want to make therapy an accessible experience, so I try to create a comfortable environment conducive to self-exploration. My patients appreciate my conversational style, which I think makes it easier to develop the therapeutic relationship that makes growth possible. Besides individual therapy, couple therapy has become a specialty. I don't just listen, but actively coach you in reinvigorating your relationship. I also work well with professionals interested in enhancing their work relationships, as well as performance.
My developmental approach gives you insight into how you became who you are. It makes it easier to adapt to new situations---you'll ultimately become your own therapist by using tools that work for you. My patients change their lives through the understanding they reach.
Besides using insight therapy to gain awareness, we'll explore how learning mindfulness and relaxation techniques can enhance your mind-body connection and alleviate anxiety and depression. You can decide which elements to focus on. All humans start with unlimited potential, and I can help you reach yours.
