Margot Escott, MSW, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Naples
"I am never upset for the reason I think" (CIM). Many of us have a belief system based on past experiences and perceptions that may come from distorted or irrational thinking. Changing our belief systems is the foundation of my work. I have been a licensed clinical social worker for 34 years. For over 25 years I've offered workshops and trainings on "The Healing Power of Laughter & Play". I use Improv Therapy in my practice and have groups for "Coping with Anxiety through Improv", "12-Step Recovery & Improv" and "Improv for Therapists".
I have extensive training in addiction, mood disorders, therapeutic humor and improvisational comedy. Using improv techniques clients learn to be in the present, develop self-confidence and insight. I work with PTSD, anxiety disorders and depression using techniques, such as Mindfulness Meditation and Visualization.
I treat various medical issues, such as traumatic brain injuries, dialysis, and chronic. I also work with caregivers for the chronically ill and elderly. My professional and personal experience with pain issues and caregiving for an elderly parent with Parkinson Disease, gives me a unique perspective to help others.

The philosophy of improv comedy has many parallels with 12-step recovery. This group will help you gain self-awareness, improve relationships and have fun. You don't have to be funny to join - just like to have fun.

More about this group

Improv comedy for Anxiety

Improvisational Comedy Techniques are being used nationally to help individuals cope with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues and self-confidence. The basic philosophy of Improv Comedy is to be present in this moment, play a "win/win" game and accept other players. In other words, there is no "wrong" way to play! In this safe, supportive environment clients will learn to regain their "inner child" through play and laughter.
