I work with a broad range of individuals throughout the lifespan including children, adolescents, college students, and adults. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to address a wide range of issues in psychotherapy including: attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), behavior problems, social skills deficits, generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety, phobias, trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and general adjustment issues.

It is important for me to create a safe and warm environment so that my clients feel comfortable enough to explore their world and emotions. I utilize a client-centered approach as well as integrative, creative techniques that best support my clients at different moments of their live.

My heartbeat has always been towards the hurting. I feel that my calling in life is to come alongside people in their darkest seasons of life to help them find clarity, peace, and strength. I have a passion for working with individuals of all ages who seek emotional healing and freedom. I am also particularly drawn to children, marriages, and families and excel in treating couples and families as a whole. I crafted PEACE Center, LLC. to serve neurodivergent children and families in the Auburn community. I use a team approach to better provide tailored interventions and a higher level of care. Though I use play and am trained for trauma and anxiety, my expertise is with neurodivergent children, adolescents, and very new adults and their supports -- especially those with Tics, OCD, ADHD, and Autism. My goal is to come alongside through affirming, creating allies, advocates, community, and connection to resources through the use of a variety of therapeutic interventions, intentional partnerships, research and training, groups, and more.

Although I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting you, I already know that you are brave. Taking control of your mental health journey can be challenging and confusing. You may ask yourself, “where do I start if I don’t even know what it is I am feeling or going through?”. My goal is to walk alongside you in this exploration of self and healing. If you are experiencing heightened anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, or stuck in the holds of depression, I want you to know that there is hope. I am very passionate about working with individuals who are trying to find their equilibrium, purpose, and joy after a trauma.

I grew up in the Opelika/Auburn area before earning my Ph.D. from the University of Alabama in 2009. I completed a predoctoral internship at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. Following my internship I completed fellowships with the TEACCH Autism Program at the University of North Carolina and the University of Alabama Autism Spectrum Disorders Clinic.

Dr. Smith is the Clinical Director at Psychological Assessment Center in the Auburn/Opelika community. She is a Licensed Psychologist with 36 years of experience in the treatment and evaluation of children, adolescents and adults. Assessments provided include: Cognitive and Academic Issues (Intellectual Functioning, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disorders), Developmental Delays, Mood Disorders (Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, PTSD), Memory Concerns, and Surgery Assessments.

At Dunn Psychological Services, Dr. Polly Dunn provides child therapy, parenting support, school advocacy, and assessments. As a child clinical psychologist with over 20 years experience in the Auburn-Opelika community, Dr. Dunn is passionate about helping the children and families of East Alabama achieve mental wellness.

I have worked with children and their families who are going through the divorce process for over twenty years. I have worked with families who are in extreme conflict and counsel the children, provided co-parenting to the parents and parental coordination post-divorce to the families.
