Anxiety is one of the most common conditions in the US, but it is treatable. I rely on well researched, evidence-based methods like CBT to help you learn to manage your thoughts and take control of your happiness. I have over 10 years experience working with adults and young adults struggling with worry, fear, panic, phobias, social anxiety and stress. We will work together to set goals to address the feelings of being paralyzed by fear and anxiety. I have additional training in Complicated or Prolonged Grief and with support, you can find relief from painful feelings of grief and loss.

In addition to individual counseling for various issues, I am certified in The Grief Recovery Method ®, and serve as a Grief Recovery Method Specialist® for both individual and groups; and I also am an Advanced GRM Specialist for 1-1 online sessions.
My goal as a psychotherapist is to meet my clients where they are in their life journey. I have an eclectic approach to therapy, allowing the client to ultimately decide the direction of their work in the counseling process. Listening with respect and validation can move a client to seek their own truth and understanding. I integrate breathing and mindfulness techniques to create a calm environment, and for the client to be able to focus on what is important--assisting the client toward awareness, direction and healing. I believe that Awareness, Honesty and Hope are foundational in healing.

My clinical experience includes addressing and treating family conflict marital issues, divorce, parenting, ethic/cultural issues, self-esteem, self-harm, anxiety, depression, trauma, problem sexual behaviors, grief.
I believe everyone has a story to tell about their journey in life and what that experience has been like for them, but oftentimes, those stories go unheard or invalidated by others. This tends to open the door to developing negative distortions about ourselves; about who we are and our ability to succeed. Overtime, these distortions begin to overlap in other areas of our lives that not only affect our mood, motivation, self-esteem, and beliefs, but importantly, our relationships – our connection with family, friends and loved ones. Therapy provides the opportunity for you to share your story and begin the process of self-discovery.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
