EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, & IFS parts work integrate challenges with power & efficiency.
I help professionals in film/TV, academia, design, & corporate heal from trauma. You may excel in some areas while quietly suffering anxiety, depression (stuck/lost), and relationship pain. A past with abuse/neglect, emotional disconnect can result in a mix of both thriving and overactive survival instincts. I provide a warm judgment-free space, strict confidentiality, modern research-based techniques, and 25 years of mental health experience. I offer EMDR, IFS (parts work), Somatic Experiencing, and psychedelic therapy. I also specialize in work with the ASD (autism), DID/DDNOS, & LGBTQ+ communities.

We will most likely use a blend of EMDR, Brainspotting, narrative therapy, somatic work, and IFS/"parts work" to examine, untangle, and explore.
Welcome! Maybe you've found yourself here because you need help untangling something. Maybe you're carrying longstanding burdens; maybe those burdens aren't even yours to hold. If you are seeking holistic, intersectional, emotion focused, justice-oriented therapy, I'm here to assist you! I provide trauma and self-exploration therapy to adults, couples, and teenagers in a dynamic, compassionate container. I aim to instill self-understanding in my clients, and empower them to grow in places they've historically had to shrink.

You may've wondered why you couldn't just be happier, more confident, or less anxious. Perhaps you find yourself heartbroken or sense that your relationship is in trouble. You may feel stuck in a career or project with little motivation to move forward. Maybe you're struggling to handle painful emotions or a traumatic past. If left unaddressed, these difficulties may lead to depression, anxiety, or a host of relationship issues that can stop you from creating the life you want.

Part of our work together will center around separating who you think you "should" be from who you are. We will collaborate to help you cultivate a more authentic version of yourself, promoting a rich landscape for change to occur. Our society prioritizes individualism and fleeting connection over deeply intimate relationships. Together we will consider ways to cultivate more meaningful connections that inspire vulnerability and intimacy and build awareness around the fears and conflicts hindering your ability to do so. We will identify your relationship needs and further develop the skills to better communicate them to others.

I use somatic (or body-awareness based) therapy and mindfulness.
Anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma make it so difficult to be present in your life. If you feel alternately numb, exhausted, or overwhelmed, I can help. Deepen your understanding of how your body holds stress and anxiety to learn new ways to respond. Addressing trauma and anxiety with body awareness helps to stop negative thoughts or a harsh inner narrative. We will use effective tools for processing overwhelming emotions in order to support you to feel grounded. With a foundation of self-trust and self-compassion, you are more effective and open to life. I work with couples and individuals.

We all have many layers of past experience that affect our present feelings, self-worth and relationships. Therapy is a unique experience where we can explore these connections, develop greater self-awareness and make meaningful changes. I work closely with my clients to help them develop more self-agency and compassion, so that they can address their current circumstances and move forward with a greater sense of meaning, clarity and purpose. I have a genuine interest in how people have developed their personal and relational patterns and I look forward to hearing your story and helping you make positive changes in your life.

Somatic therapy is both practical and profound.
Are you creative, a perfectionist, or do you work in a high-stress position? On paper, things look good.  But on the inside, it’s a different story. Many high-achievers and creatives can get lost in survival mode, straying far from our basic requirements and deep desires.  This can be caused by many things including unconscious unmet needs, cultural norms, or old wounds.  Fortunately, there is a safe and gentle way out.  I help people reconnect their minds, bodies, and emotions. Over time, my clients become skilled at trusting others, being proactive, and aligning with an authentic version of themselves.

With experience in somatic and 12-step practices, I bring a holistic perspective to problems and solutions.
I hold space for individual adults, couples, children, and adolescents. From depression and anxiety, to life transitions, addiction, identity and relationship problems, I start wherever the client is and work collaboratively towards understanding. Whatever the obstacles between a client and their sense of meaning, purpose, authenticity or alignment, I help them move towards growth and change. I bring awareness and sensitivity to systemic oppression and intergenerational trauma that affect us all in different ways, and I respect the inherent wisdom of my clients' psyches to strive towards wholeness.

From navigating major life transitions like emerging into adulthood and midlife complexities to working through trauma and depression, I am a compassionate and direct partner on your journey. Curiosity and grace will be the fuel that drive our work together.

My approach integrates EMDR, mindfulness, and somatic interventions.
Sometimes it feels as though the wounds we experienced in our early lives have control over our well-being and emotions in the present. These wounded places, which often show up in our relationships can be healed and repaired. I'm here to help you untangle those past hurts, to connect more deeply with yourself and in turn with your partner. Relationships are one of the most vital and potentially rewarding ways in which we can feel both secure and alive, which is why I’m interested in helping to guide you through the work of building healthy relationships and giving you the tools to learn how to be your true and most authentic self.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
