I am a strong believer in the power of people to change, if given the right tools and the right amount of support. The process of change can be both exciting and frightening at the same time, and as a psychologist, I work with my clients to help them decide if they are ready to make changes and what changes are the right ones to make. In the end, however, the choice to change is one that only the individual can make, as he or she is the only expert on himself or herself.

*Accepting new clients..I have worked in the Charlotte area since 1997 completing evaluations and providing counseling. I specialize in assessing and diagnosing children, adolescents, and young adults. Psychological evaluations provide information necessary to help individuals achieve success in their lives. Parents often question: under-achievement, inattention/distractibility, executive skills, proper interventions, and/or strengths and weaknesses of their child. I assess for learning disabilities, attention disorders, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, giftedness, kindergarten readiness, and private school admissions (CAIS).

It’s hard to know how to start an introduction like this. It can quickly feel like I am trying to “sell” myself to you, which is not the point. It's for you to get to know me. I have found therapy to be most beneficial under two conditions: first and foremost, a person HAS to be ready. Ready to make changes; ready to dig deep. I think we have all been guilty of continuing the same patterns of behavior, hoping things will magically change one day. I advise a healthy mix of tangible change along with exploration to identify how core beliefs, negative thoughts and family dynamics impact present behaviors and relationships.

My practice includes work with families, couples, and individuals ages 3 and older. My office is small and I work part-time because I also teach at colleges in Charlotte and surrounding areas. My clients have told me they feel very comfortable working with me and they appreciate my direct and results-oriented approach. Although I assist my clients with a wide variety of problems and challenges, my specialties include play therapy, trauma, and work/life issues. I love my job and I am always happy to help!
