"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change" - Carl Rogers. Accepting difficult situations in life and moving towards change is a journey you don't have to face alone. I have 10+ years of experience working with adolescents and adults who struggle with a history of trauma, impulsivity, overwhelming emotions/emotional outbursts, feeling disconnected from others, poor relationships, poor sense of identity, thoughts of suicide and self-harm. These symptoms and behaviors are often a result of feeling unheard, invalidated and/or traumatic experiences.

I am most passionate about working with children and adolescents who are experiencing behavioral concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and LGBTQIA+ members.
Finding the right therapist for your child can be a stressful and exhausting process. It's important to find someone who is knowledgeable and is also able to create a space that feels comfortable and safe to allow your child to be vulnerable. As a therapist, I work hard to build a non-judgemental, trusting, accepting therapeutic connection with all of my clients. The therapy process is individualized and we will work together to identify and work towards your child's personalized goals so that they can feel like their best self!

I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral issues, self harm, suicidal ideation and much more.
Accepting new clients! I'm so glad you are here. The hardest part of getting help is reaching out to make that first appointment and you are one step closer. Childhood mental health issues have been rising for awhile now and we saw an even bigger increase the past few years. Not only are our children struggling, it is hard work learning to parent our children with mental health needs. Navigating depression, anxiety, mood swings, trauma, etc is not meant to be done alone. I believe in working alongside you, your child, and family as we tackle issues together.

My experience has allowed me to work with a wide variety of clients from those with suicidal tendencies to addiction and relationship concerns.
Be gentle with yourself, you're doing the best you can. This sentence embraces the concept that at any given moment we are trying the best we can with the information and behaviors we have learned previously. I have found that this can give us some compassion for past behaviors that we would like to change. If we can explore change from a compassionate way we can increase our chances of success. If you feel motivated to change and grow, I would be honored to work alongside you as you implement healthy and long-lasting growth.

If you are looking for an “out of the box” type of counselor, then I would love to speak with you. Therapy is about meeting you where you are and if that means you need a listening ear as you process something deep, someone to help guide you to the best possible you, or someone who is going to hold you accountable than look no further, because that is exactly what you will get. Therapy is not one size fits all, so I use many different modalities of therapy to help you navigate life’s hills and valleys. I like to bring in my teachings from my Advanced Certified Hypnotherapist training.

Hello, my name is Caleb and the reason I love counseling is because It brings me immense joy to support people in their journey towards becoming the best versions of themselves. I strongly believe that people are inherently good, but life can be challenging and sometimes it can be difficult to see the good in ourselves. Although we cannot change our past circumstances or experiences.

There are few joys greater than interpersonal freedom. Living unabashedly and authentically as you deserve and desire. This is our true heritage as humans. When we are barraged daily to find this freedom externally by our culture, (perhaps friends and family) and then osmotically transfer it inward we are left deeply lacking. It never works. The cost of freedom and to a higher level of awareness about ourselves is called work. W-O-R-K! The digging deep kind of work. Working to let go of anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, or whatever repeatedly binds us to a negative narrative from the past that no longer serves the present.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?

Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?

The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
