I'm in the process of getting my mental health prescriptive privileges as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 2 semesters left, as I am already a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider and a Family Nurse Practitioner. As a licensed psychologist, I provide evidence-based treatment to meet the individualized needs of each person. My approach to therapy starts with providing immediate tools for improvement while working to establish an authentic connection. Through this therapeutic connection, we can work together to examine what is contributing to your concerns in a manner that promotes healing and recovery.

Each of us shapes and is shaped by the relationships we have with others, with our bodies, with our stories, with our cultures, and with our worlds. We find ourselves here and now because of where we’ve been and what has happened, because of how we carry our experiences forward and how they have made us. I am awed by the creative resilience with which we integrate or shoulder the burdens we’ve felt. I find astonishing and courageous the ways in which we not only survive, but find ways to thrive, to express ourselves, and live into the fullness of human experience despite those things that have hurt us and that hurt us now.

Dawn Kenner provides comprehensive psychotherapy services to adults, children, and families struggling with emotional and psychological problems. She offers multiple treatment modalities to assist with the unique needs of clients and their concerns. Her approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative, creating a safe and supportive environment to assist an individual with their needs and treatment goals. Treatment goals are created to offer you guidance and support as you identify and resolve problems, improve relationships, and gain an increased feeling of empowerment.

My focus is working with survivors of narcissistic abuse, first responders, and couples looking to recover from infidelity. I see individuals as well as couples and if appropriate, will alternate seeing a couple together and then separately for individual sessions. I use an integrative approach that combines evidence-based practices with a personalized, holistic perspective. Whether you are struggling with infidelity, trauma, anxiety, depression, or other challenges, I am here to provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences and develop the skills and tools you need to achieve your goals.

I believe in personalized therapy that reduces symptoms, enhances personal wellness and reflects state-of-the-art scientific research and treatment methods. Many people are not sure if therapy is right for them. These individuals are often drawn to my approach because I focus on personal empowerment, encourage questions about the process, and develop very unique and collaborative treatment plans.

Accepting new clients - Please feel free to request an initial appointment via my website through my secure client portal. My mission is for each client to find their true self and voice and see that so many of our negative storylines and scripts are just programming we have picked up throughout our lives. My heart is to follow each client's lead on where he or she needs to go versus my own agenda and / or preferences. I believe that it is in allowing space for our experiences of our full humanity that we realize that at our most fundamental level our essence is actually good and true.

I help my clients unlearn negative beliefs and begin to change relationship patterns that no longer serve them. When we are able to know what we need and set limits in our relationships, we enhance our emotional well-being and our relationships become healthier.
