I've been privileged to know and help people from all walks of life w/diverse backgrounds and experiences. My background: community mental health, substance abuse, trauma work, student population, and overseas with US military families. I'm comfortable working w/people of all ages. I provide short-term, solution focused counselling, long term intensive therapy, play therapy, couples and family counseling.

During my 20 years of military service, I have experienced extended deployments, combat action, and led commands.

I strive to be the counselor I would want to talk to. I am an OIF/OND Veteran that has extensive experience working with military and Veteran populations. I am trained in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I offer a holistic, harm reduction approach to recovery as well as generalized mental health services. I teach lasting happiness with positive psychology and energy practices. I want to help you reduce stress, and live an optimal life. I am also a certified yoga instructor, which helps to connect your mind, body, and spirit.

My area of focus is adults looking to improve their mental health. I have a passion for individuals dealing with post-traumatic stress, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and other issues. My hope is to use the uplifting power of music to break down walls and create something beautiful out of the pain.

I have 35 years of clinical experience and enjoy working with Veterans, First Responders, College students, High School students, anxiety, mood disorders, couples counseling and how to cope and recover from narcissistic relationship abuse and imposter syndrome. I am very passionate about treating ADHD and helping individuals know how to advocate for themselves with their schools, jobs, and health care providers. I operate primarily under the following belief, “The only thing standing between you and your goal is the story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.”

I am a native of Urbana, IL. I earned a Bachelor degree in Biblical Studies with a focus in Pastoral Counseling from SUM Bible College and Theological Seminary, and a Master degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois. While working with at-risk youth, I began to find interest in their journey and valued creating a space where they could share. I became interested in learning more about counseling and supporting others with developing tools for success. I value the opportunity to walk with clients as they share their journeys. I have a relational approach combined with a solution-based focus.

I am a Licensed Social Worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the Metropolitan State University in Denver Colorado with over fourteen years of experience in social work, starting with organizing for labor and community campaigns, followed by working with veterans who were experiencing homelessness.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois, with many differing experiences in the field of mental health and emotional well-being. I have experience working with families, couples, and individuals of all ages. I am passionate about supporting First Responders, Veterans, and their families. My goal is to help First Responders and their families in reducing stress, processing compounded trauma, and live a productive life that is not overshadowed by their professions. I also work with individuals that are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and personality disorders.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, as well as a National Certified Counselor. I received my Master’s degree in Clinical and School Counseling from Eastern Illinois University. I have 20+ years of experience counseling people. I began my counseling career working with active duty military populations and their families. I am currently a Veterans advocate, assisting active duty and military retirees.

First and foremost, if you are reading this, I want you to know that I see the strength it took for you to take this step in asking for help. I work with clients ages 3 and up to navigate many life challenges - whether that is reprocessing past trauma, struggling in relationships, infertility/perinatal struggles, or navigating the day to day stressors of life. Being a member of the military/veteran community, I am also passionate about working with military/veterans and their family members on the unique challenges they face in their day to day life. I hope to help each person rewrite their story into something they can be proud of.

My goal is to work alongside those seeking to process past experiences, address current life stressors and attain an overall improved quality of life. Through building strong therapeutic relationships, clients are able to successfully reach their identified goals and find healing. Clients identify the area in which they would like to process and I work alongside them at their pace and comfort level.
