I prefer to use the humanistic and strengths-based approach but can change the therapy approach to fit your needs.

We work with people from age 3-90, with experienced therapists in our multispecialty center, helping our clients and their families to clarify their specific concerns and to achieve their goals in therapy. We often help people with depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, panic, grief, insomnia & relationship problems. Individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, and psychological assessment services are available.

I offer compassion-based therapy which focuses on what's right and good in you. I team with clients to create a mutual, shared space of compassion, caring and healing. In this space, problems are explored together, losses and hurts are held together. Where there is trauma, it is transformed through body-based somatic therapy and EMDR. You're passionate about your work. It's your purpose and mission in life. I'm passionate about it too - and about working with burned out (or those wanting to avoid burnout) because I know what it's like from personal experience. Time off and self-care help but are not enough. More important is the inner work to deal with the exhaustion, loss of empathy, cynicism and hopelessness about the cultural and systemic pressures to produce more and to satisfy work demands. Self-sacrifice is not a sustainable strategy. Alignment with your true Self and the real demands of Life are sustainable strategies for wellness.

I am interested in the meanings that you make from your life experiences and the influence that these have on your perspectives of yourself, your relationships, and your future. I find that viewing problems as separate from personhood helps to lessen feelings of guilt and shame so that we can work together in a collaborative environment. My training in family systems theory informs my view of people in the context of their relationships, environment, and culture. I consider it a privilege to work with people to bring about the changes they desire in their lives and relationships.

I take a relational approach when working with clients. We have all been shaped by both our personal history and intergenerational history. Anyone who would invest considerable time, energy, emotion, and money into therapy desires clarity and awareness. Oftentimes, clients have never been given a safe place to process the underlying reasons for the present-day issues. Nor have they been asked the right questions that would help them reflect on the joy and pain that was and is present. This is needed to develop a sense of self. We were harmed in relationship and we heal in relationship. This is why therapy is so powerful.

I have extensive knowledge working with patients with psychosis, substance use, and at high risk of suicide. Focusing on harm reduction, healthy coping skills, and recovery to live the best possible life. I see individuals with anxiety, depression, phobias, dissociative disorders, and with histories of trauma, (including service members returning from Afghanistan and Iraq). I use EMDR combined with other client-centered therapies. What is most important, however, is that your therapy is tailored to your individual needs and does not follow a strict set of guidelines. Using a humanistic and transpersonal approach, we explore how longstanding beliefs and values affect how you feel about yourself and about the choices you make. We will identify and eliminate your "stumbling blocks" so that you feel in control of your destiny.
