Hello there! I'm Nicole and I'm here to collaborate with you on your life journey. With a compassionate heart and an open mind, I invite you to explore the depths of your emotions and experiences in a safe and supportive space. I have been in the field of mental health and social work since 2011 and have worked in many populations such as hospice, military, hospital inpatient units, and detox/rehab facilities. As of April 2024, I am now a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional. When partnering with someone in therapy, I believe the focus should be on relearning to care for our wounded parts with love and empathy.

"I feel a true heart calling to work with those who are hurting and in need. I believe that we are created to fellowship with the Lord and called to experience a life of joy through a personal and growing relationship with Him. I believe a person's heart is their well spring of life, and true change comes for a person when their heart is changed."

I'm filled with hope for my clients as they grapple with the pain, hurt, suffering, or fear they are experiencing as they await the time when all things will be made new. I believe all people are created in the imago Dei, image of God, and have incredible worth and value. My desire is to be a conduit in which healing would pass through my life experience and professional training in a way that benefits and brings hope, health, and restoration to those I counsel.

Choosing counseling can be a monumental step in life's journey. I consider it a privilege to come along side you as you are seeking insight, growth and change. I enjoy working with women via phone therapy. My approach to counseling involves consideration of the whole person. Your mind, your body and your spirit. I utilize several counseling theories - Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Emotion-Focused, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy among others. Mostly though, I focus on meeting you where you are and without judgment so that you can experience the growth you desire.

Nicely done - You should be proud of this step! It takes significant strength to start looking for a counselor. I applaud starting the process... but don't give up now! We all face challenges - stages of the path of life - mental, physical, spiritual, relational; all of it. It can significantly help to find an understanding and caring professional who brings their heart, soul, training and a team model... to walk alongside of us for a part of the path. My team and I would love to come alongside.

Life can be more challenging than you expect, and sometimes you need help in moving forward. In those times, you need someone who understands you and can coach you in finding a healthy way to manage what life throws at you. A good therapist is like a fellow traveler who is able to help you make sense of life and relationships. In many life situations, a supportive counselor who understands how challenging life is can be a helpful part of your journey.

Counseling requires a relationship based on trust and mutual respect. My goal for counseling is that you and I will understand and trust one another, identifying your goals and working to overcome whatever obstacles are in your way. I believe that anyone who seeks counseling does so because of a desire to live your best life, and my desire is to help you do just that. With over 20 years of experience as a licensed counselor, I will help you to move toward solutions that will bring about positive change. While my clinical training and biblical worldview inform my approach, your goals and needs are the priority of each session.

We don’t always expect to find ourselves in a place where we need to reach out for help, but taking that step is a massive leap toward things getting better. Whether you are here to improve relationship concerns, address compulsive sexual behavior, seek help for infidelity or betrayal, or improve intimacy and sex, we can work together to get you to the place you’d like to be. In working with clients, I don't take a generalized approach and I tailor each session to your goals. My hope is that you leave each session knowing what your next step is.

I specialize in developmental trauma, partner betrayal trauma, couple’s reintegration therapy (post sex addiction/problematic sexual behaviors or relationship ruptures), and sexual issues.
Within my work, I have adopted the therapeutic model of trauma recovery from Pia Mellody at The Meadows, as I witnessed firsthand how her Model of Developmental Immaturity has successfully and thoroughly addressed all forms of developmental trauma. I have been trained in Post Induction Therapy (PIT), a method to treat developmental immaturity through inner child and feeling reduction work. This method is used in workshops at The Meadows in Wickenburg, AZ, commonly known as the “Survivors Week.”. I have done specialized training with Dr. Ken Adams, focused on treating parent and adult child enmeshment issues.

Sex Therapy

Who is sex therapy for?

Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.

Why do people need sex therapy?

Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.

What happens in sex therapy?

People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.

What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?

Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
