Being told your voice is not valued because you’re young is the worst. Your voice matters. Often as a young adult/teen/child, we’re told, “just do it,” and “that’s just the way it is.” Or maybe you’re the parent wanting to connect with your child and asking yourself, “what happened?” I am here to support Gen Z and/or their families with each family member finding their voice, being seen for their individuality, and fostering reconnection with one another and your family’s roots/values. Every voice in the family matters and is valuable and strong and I would be honored to support your quest in nurturing this personal/family growth.

I am so excited to assist you and your family in finding healing, and I will tailor your treatment plan specifically to what you need to feel confident and empowered.
I love working with teens, young adults, and their families, as they work through concerns such as trauma, depression, and anxiety. I have been a mental health therapist for teens with trauma in residential care over the past few years. This has equipped me to become well versed in various and complicated diagnoses that impact entire family systems. This has also led me to use therapeutic modalities (interventions) that break down the barriers talk-therapy often has for youth, including engagement, trust, and buy-in to the therapeutic process.

I help teens and adults - with a focus on boys' and men's issues - to develop mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual fitness, to successfully navigate academics, work, family, relationships, Christian faith, and challenging life dynamics.
You “can’t take it anymore”! You're at a crossroad or hit a wall. You’ve been trying and trying to fix it… that constant source of frustration, disappointment, and heartache. You’ve been trying to make it right, make it better, make it go away, make it work! What seems natural and easy to others is allusive, confusing, discouraging and overwhelming to you. It’s time for a change. It’s within the dynamic of human relationship where we become who we’re meant to be, do what we’re designed to do, and arrive at our destinations of longing. The greatest healing, growth, and success result from human connection.

I strongly believe that all humans can reach an optimum state of health. An essential part of achieving this often involves addressing limiting habitual patterns of behavior or belief systems as well as learning skills to optimize healthy relationships. I seek to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment in which clients can identify their own answers and achieve tangible results. This can occur both in individual sessions as well as with the collaboration of family members. My practice has lead me to work with youth, young adults, adults, and families facing some very challenging life situations and internal struggles.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
