Hi, I'm Tory! I've been a mental health professional for several years and have experience working with people from a broad range of backgrounds, cultures, ages, and presenting concerns. I am especially passionate about, and skilled in, working with young adults and folks in the LGBTQIA+ and polyamorous/ENM communities (both of which are identities I hold myself). I strive to show up in session as my authentic self, and bring curiosity, kindness, and humor to my work. I am endlessly grateful to have the privilege of walking alongside clients every day, and to be a part of supporting their healing and growth.

I became a therapist after overcoming my own adversity and trauma.  I confronted the impact of it as a young adult through therapy where I was empowered with the tools I needed to positively evolve as a person.  I want to assist others in their struggle with trauma by empowering them with similar tools to confront the impact of their own trauma and to positively grow. I specialize in working with people that have experienced significant trauma, abuse or neglect. But I can also help you if you're experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, relationship issues, adjustment issues or gender identity or sexual identity concerns.

As an AASECT certified sex therapist, my intention is to be inclusive, purposeful and down to earth in serving clients through a sex positive lens. Hi, my name is Kate Spitzer. I'm a youth therapist who has experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral issues, neurodivergency. I am LGBT+ affirming, and strive to create an environment where my clients feel understood and accepted. I believe that therapy can be fun, and that you can learn through play, which is why I love utilizing art and play activities in my sessions. I utilize CBT, DBT, Motivational techniques, and employ a strengths based and humanistic approach.

I am a Licensed Practicing Counselor (LPC) in Ohio and have been working in the field for over 4 years. I am currently working at Ellie Mental Health in Centerville, OH. I work with a wide range of diagnoses, client problems, and am open to working with a wide variety of ages and identities. I have specialized in mood disorders as well as grief/bereavement. I have also worked with clients through several different life transitions such as moving out of the family home, going to college, premarital, retirement, and divorce. I also use the Gottman method to work with couples through difficult points in their relationship.

There is a curious habit that I've noticed, especially when working with teens, that clients will mostly only work on the "issue of the week." This can have numerous benefits and can also delay the client's progress on any underlying concerns or patterns. Ideally, once a client has agreed to their treatment goals, they continue to take attainable steps towards that goal in therapy and in their daily life. When a client feels comfortable with their therapist to share their thoughts, emotions, and vulnerabilities, then deeper work can happen.

Therapy sessions with me are trauma-, CBT- and DBT-informed. Sessions can be solution-oriented and/or psychotherapeutic. We can work on specific emotional regulation and/or social skills, process identities, set and plan goals, connect you to resources, and more. We can focus on identity development, transgender journeys, disability as an identity, anxiety and depression, chronic illness, queer/polyamorous relationships, and/or being religious and LGBTQ+. I do my best work with adults who experience the cumulative effects of microaggressions steeped in oppressive attitudes. I enjoy assisting clients with clarifying their most cherished values and helping them construct enforceable boundaries to protect their peace, the relationships that matter most to them, and, if need be, ending relationships that no longer serve them.
