We are all on a journey. As we face the hills and valleys of life, we need the support of others to walk alongside us to encourage and to navigate our paths. I have experience working with individuals and families experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, parent-child interaction issues, grief, anger, relationship issues, family concerns, school issues and other mental health concerns. I am committed to providing professional, holistic, evidence-based, and compassionate mental health support. I view the counseling process as a collaboration process between me and the clients.

You are full of potential... but you are not living the life you want. Maybe you have experienced trauma or struggle with anxiety and depression. You might feel trapped in a cycle of negative thinking, painful emotions, and failing relationships. A part of you may carry burdens of shame, anger or sadness. No matter how bad things seem, there is a part of you that knows change is possible.

I work with individuals dealing with OCD, anxiety, depression, sexual addiction, anger management.
Do you want a fresh outlook? Are you looking for a new perspective? Do you want change that offers realistic hope? I have been privileged over the past 20 plus years of helping people address change. We all want to avoid addressing personal change. In many ways it is like musical chairs: We cling as long as possible to the perceived "safe" place that we already know, refusing to loosen our grip until we feel sure another safe place awaits. Together we will work to establish attainable goals that are best suited for your life.

Isolation, regret, dissonance, sadness, anger - such things can find their way in despite our best efforts.
Growth, healing, and change. It is my privilege and joy to work with clients to achieve these in their lives. We begin by building trust, exploring together, developing new insights, taking meaningful action, then sustaining new ways of being. I use mindfulness and nature to help clients, which can be done indoors or out. Similarly, looking at clients' internal parts, relational dynamics, and cognitions can help with transition, trauma, stagnation, depression, and more. I work to restore clients' sense of harmonious connection. I work with ages 7 and up.

I specialize in helping you disconnect from unreliable sources of approval and worth (evident in problems with eating, exercising, anger, stress, work, and unsatisfying relationships) and reconnect with enduring, internal passions, joy, and self-esteem.
Therapy is a gift. Its power is rooted in our ancestry, biology, and deep capacities to relate to one another. It isn't something scientists devised in a laboratory. It's a natural process we each have the right to enjoy by simple virtue of being human.

Problematic behaviors evolve as a way to cope with a situation or attempt to solve a problem. While these behaviors might provide temporary relief, they often are not effective in the long-term. DBT skills training is a weekly group, run like a class, which teaches new coping skills across four main topics: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance.. Participants are assigned weekly homework in which they practice the skills taught during the weekly lesson.

Identifying unprocessed trauma is crucial in treating common to severe mental health issues. Trauma runs on a spectrum from minor to major events and is only relevant to the person who experienced it. What may be disturbing to one individual may not be to the next and vice versa. Trauma can be contagious and impact those around you. Everyone experiences adversity in their lifetime; while there are many wonderful evidence based methods I will use for recovery I find EMDR to be most effective with significantly faster results while being the least invasive.

I can help you identify and remove the blocks to your happiness, whether they be inside of you (your thoughts, expectations and anxieties) or outside (toxic relationships, cultural barriers, etc.). I can also help you address and face the fears which hold you back, identify relationship patterns which keep you from getting what you want in love, and help you think outside the box to create novel solutions to your struggles.

Working with children, adolescents and families in a wholistic manner is key in support and therapy. I am passionate about working with children, teens, and families who are navigating a neurotypical world through a neurodivergent lens. Finding support, information, and psychotherapy can be a challenge, but I am dedicated to bringing a client-led approach and a place where clients can feel seen and heard. I have had the pleasure of working with community agencies, courts, schools, wrap around services, and other mental health programs. In the therapy space I value client voice, safety and self advocacy.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
