I will support you in healing your past, coping with the present, and envisioning a desirable and rewarding future in all aspects of your life.

I also provide couples counselling and have completed training from the Gottman Institute, taking a research-based approach to creating stronger relationships.
I understand that, at times, life can be challenging and difficult to manage. In these moments, it can be helpful to seek support from others to help discover healthy and adaptive ways of coping. I believe in building strong relationships with clients founded on trust, empathy and mutual respect so that individuals feel understood, and are encouraged to create positive change in their lives. I have experience working with diverse clientele at the Calgary Urban Project Society, Mount Royal University, and in private practice.

I try to match my skills with your needs and work sensitively with you to sort out what it is that brought you to me. I use a variety of therapeutic tools in a transparent way. I work with couples and individuals, both men and women.

Psychology can, non-judgmentally, help people deal with challenges such as depression, anxiety, addictions and relationship problems.
You want a LIFE more worth LIVING! Lets create that together! At all times, we are always doing the best we can with what we have: the knowledge, skills, experience and the information we posses in the moment. But, we often judge our "past" selves (and others in our past) from where we are at "today". This can create problems. With guidance, we can learn how our own (and others) past decisions, actions and experiences can create problems for us today. With understanding, we can learn to live more effectively! I invite you to join me for this journey!!

I work with individuals, couples, and families and I also offer brainspotting and neurofeedback.
I am a therapist and previous medical doctor who is passionate about the messy and beautiful parts of being human. I believe that we live in a world that constantly (and effectively) tries to tell us who and what we should be, which often leads us to try to fit in. This can create a considerable amount of conflict, and possibly trauma, within us that can lead to mental health challenges and takes us further from what we desperately crave – belonging, connection, and authenticity. As your therapist, I hope to provide a safe non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feel your way through your journey to wellness.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
