I have been an LMSW for 20 years moving into Coaching as I now understand how much our treatment systems and work environments often cause further harm.
I work with high functioning professionals with trauma inducing work and/or previous Traumas. Often, this leads to things like: unwanted habits, exhaustion/fatigue, low self worth, moral injury, compassion fatigue, etc. If you are living a 'successful' life, yet feel you got lost in it somewhere, let's talk! Unfortunately, stigma for mh and sud issues also exists for providers. Coaching is a tool that can address your targeted pain points and produce results - safely, confidentially and with support of a peer with vast knowledge in these matters and how they impact our work and lives (and vice versa).

Change is the only constant in life: we live in a complex, busy, and changing world that presents a variety of challenges, as well as opportunities, in our everyday lives. Our biological and psychological makeup, as well as our spiritual, cultural, social, and family backgrounds and support systems, have a lot to do with the ways we deal with these challenges.

Life can be difficult; between the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life it is often hard to prioritize yourself and your needs. It is easy to feel overwhelmed or as if you are barely staying afloat. Amidst all of these daily pressures, you may be struggling with an increase of anxious feelings, depression or struggling with childhood issues that have not been addressed. Therapy can help with all of these issues and teach you how to prioritize yourself and reduce some of the negative symptoms you are experiencing. It can be scary to start therapy, I am here to help reduce that fear.

I often advise my clients to maintain hope and believe that they can create the life they desire, even when it seems impossible.
I work with clients who have experienced childhood trauma, have been or are in a relationship with a narcissistic parent or spouse, are experiencing job-related stress, are grieving the loss of a parent or spouse, and are struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and have obsessive-com I also have extensive experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum. Therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the client. Creating a sense of safety is paramount in building trust and a solid therapeutic foundation. As a therapist, I'm highly intuitive, compassionate, empathetic, and caring about my clients.

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you’ve said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” -Maya Angelou. This quote had become my life motto, as it is so true, the way you have been made to feel by another is what can make or break any person. Adults who have experienced trauma, substance abuse, mental heath, emotional exhaustion, and life’s various curveballs deserve to be heard and treated in an environment that is understanding, empathetic, safe, stable, supportive, and non judgmental to begin their journey to heal.

People want to be heard. That’s why I listen for your thoughts, ideas, but especially your feelings. Because they are where we all live. They are the heart of our lives and when that feels bad, everything feels bad. Sometimes it’s like you have been waiting all your life to tell your story. You don’t have to wait anymore. Recent research has shown that medication alone and therapies that focus only on behavior and not self-understanding and self-awareness cannot accomplish this. I can help you develop self-understanding so you can start making choices which enrich and uncomplicate your life. Why wait until it feels worse?

Our thoughts, feelings and behaviors have a big impact on the quality of our day to day life.
It is wonderful that you decided to begin the process of finding a therapist. I think that it is vital that you find someone that is a good fit for you. It is important to create an environment that is free of judgment so that you can feel safe expressing yourself. The way we form our identity is complex, many roles play a factor including our environment, family history, current relationships, and lifestyle. Through the journey of life, events both positive and painful help to mold us. The path of healing and exploration into yourself can lead to a stronger, happier, healthier you.

My client has the answers they need inside of them, they just need some perspective. Most of my clients have experienced trauma in their lives in some form, and struggled with finding themselves or finding meaning in their life experience afterward. I enjoy navigating and exploring the full-range of human experience including issues pertaining to identity and sexuality, unearthing fears and anxieties, boundary setting, and building expression in all areas of life.

Talk therapy serves a valuable purpose by aiding your brain in processing challenging emotions during specific moments in your life and enabling introspection regarding associated thoughts. However, what if you find yourself trapped in the depressive, anxious, angry, or shameful mental state for so long that you have nothing new to explore? What if, despite recounting your traumatic experiences numerous times, your low energy, sadness, avoidance, anger, or impulsivity still persists? And what if the somatic reactions triggered by certain events are so intense and rapid that you are unable to employ sound judgment?

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
