Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor and I am committed to making a positive impact on each client I work with. I work with a variety of ages, specializing in young adults, and my work history has focused in crisis work, anxiety, depression, and trauma. However, I have trained in many areas and work with clients with a variety of concerns and diagnoses. I hope to be able to help guide you through your therapeutic journey and create a collaborative, supportive, therapeutic relationship that meets your needs.

I work in a general practice setting and have helped a wide variety of clients with a wide variety of issues. In addition, I volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children and am certified as a Child and Family Investigator. Our approach utilizes the biopsychosocial approach to evaluation and treatment; this means we strive to understand the biological, psychological, and social factors that influence the health and wellness of our clients. Our services are often referred to as "behavioral medicine" or "medical psychology;" this is due to taking a holistic approach in our treatment considering the whole person - physical, mental, emotional, and social. We often work collaboratively with other professions such as primary care physicians, occupational therapists, social workers, chaplains, and others who are important to one's individual network of care.

I have been passionate about psychology and helping others for as long as I can remember. One of my early passions became to destigmatize mental health care. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I work with a variety of individuals working to live happier and healthier lives by overcoming many different issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, and more. Through my own personal experience, I know beginning the therapy journey can feel a bit daunting, however I am here to help create a safe and collaborative space where you are comfortable.

Life is like a river, rapid and perplexed as it streams us into a direction. There may be times where we choose which way the river will bend, and other times where we become subject to its flow. In this chaos, finding our way home to ourselves becomes the journey. After working with children and families for 15 years in foster care and adoption settings, I developed a passion for empowering people who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, and who struggle with relationship issues. Life always presents challenges and the ability to move through those challenges with a strong sense of self is important. I work closely with clients to develop a strong therapeutic relationship, which engenders an environment of safety and promotes healing. I am an EMDR Certified Clinician which integrates attachment theory, CBT and emotion regulation. I also use child-centered play therapy with children.

I believe that people are the experts on themselves. However, they often need therapy to help aid them in discovering and changing the patterns in their life that continue to produce discomfort and/or unwanted outcomes. I have worked in the field of therapy for more than 11 years in a many different environments to include residential, forensics, inpatient, and outpatient settings. In these settings I gained experience in working with a variety of people focusing on different struggles to include depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, relationship issues, and other challenges.

As first generation to Indian parents, I saw my parents struggle with cultural differences. They were raised with similar upbringings; however, their beliefs about relationships were starkly different. I never witnessed them talking about their struggles, but rather, they seemed to view their relationship as what was to be expected. Witnessing this relationship dynamic taught me the importance of bringing differences to the forefront. We get so many messages about who we are supposed to be from family, friends, and society. Relationships bring two people with multi-faceted identities together, therefore, it's only natural for relationship issues to arise.

My journey started in Dubuque, Iowa where I went to Clarke University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I completed by Master of Arts in Counseling at Colorado Christian University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor. I am passionate about working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger, substance abuse, relationships, and trauma.
