As an executive coach and clinical psychologist of over 17 years, I have worked with thousands of high performers helping them uncover hidden issues that get in the way of reaching their full potential. What I’ve found is that high performers are simply exhausted emotionally, physically, and mentally. Work-life balance is both a mystery and a necessity, so much so that some say that it doesn’t exist. I beg to differ. Like many other high performers, I actually enjoy my career. I look forward to complex problem-solving and the fast-paced life of a CEO. My clients benefit from high-level and customized expertise in a concierge format.

Are you overwhelmed with thoughts? Have you experienced heartache from your past and/or current experiences? Are you drowning in insecurities and self-doubt? It seems easier to keep everything buried inside, doesn't it? However, you and I both know that it isn't the healthiest way to cope. Christ did not intend for us to live in defeat but in victory (1 Corinthians 15:57)!

I pride myself on my empathy and transparency as i believe the relationship between myself and my client is paramount for change to begin.
I am a 13 year military veteran who grew up in the South Bronx, first generation Puerto Rican in this country, raised by a single parent. It is these experiences that formed the foundation of my core beliefs, for better or worse. I approach my practice in the same way. The world impacts us, from the womb to the tomb. It is how we traverse the challenges that defines us. I use an eclectic mix of techniques, including solution focused, experiential, trauma informed, and cognitive behavioral, to help my clients better navigate those challenges.

Life certainly takes unexpected turns! How, then, do we live balanced, authentic lives in the midst of intense stress, loss, and change? My goal is to help you examine, heal, grow, and gain perspective. Like peeling back layers of an onion, therapy provides clients the opportunity to see that many life events are interconnected by family patterns, past trauma, grief and loss, boundary issues, and learned coping strategies, to name a few. Therapy also gives clients opportunities to strategically prepare for the future, explore personal values and spirituality, strengthen relationships, and clarify goals.

The focus of my therapy practice is based on the premise that our past, present situations, and future aspirations strongly influence our interactions with our environment. As we evolve and confront challenges, it is crucial to recognize our past, adapt to our present surroundings, and modify our perceptions and behavior so we may reach our full potential. My aim is to assist clients in exploring emotions, promoting self-reflection, developing positive methods of communication, and enhancing the foundations that will support life-long relationships and improve the overall quality of life.

My name is Michael Charnley and I am licensed in the state of Georgia, LPC010672. Of course, over 26 years I have become quite eclectic in the therapies I use, but mostly I want to meet the client where they are. Let the session feel like a conversation between 2 acquaintances. Since worked in various agencies when I started I was able to experience a lot of different issues, Depression, Anxiety, Anger Management, Self-Esteem Issues, and since my clients were adolescents, Family Issues. I am also comfortable working with dual diagnosis issues attached to Addiction and Abuse issues.

Are you stuck in a perpetual cycle of depression and anxiety? Or maybe you are using drugs and/or alcohol to cope with life’s many stressors? Whatever the reason, I’m here to help. You may be asking, “is therapy right for me?” Absolutely! Therapy is a great self-care tool.

Do you need a safe place to have those difficult conversations as a couple or as an individual? What do you need to talk about but are just "afraid to go there"? Has nagging or snipping at each other become a daily ritual? Emotions keep us from facing our challenges, and lead to avoidance of conflict or limit insight that is necessary for personal or relationship growth. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental, and open space to explore new perspectives and reframe old thoughts and behaviors that may have worked in the past, but are now part of the problem.

Learning to manage life can be a challenge. When complicated by life transitions, performance pressures, chronic health conditions, mental health diagnoses, or a host of other unforeseen obstacles, it is important to seek guidance. I have shared this journey with individuals & families for over 22 years. My clinical training, the use of research supported treatments, such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), & Sports Counseling have allowed me to successfully work with individuals of all ages (children, teens, adults, & geriatrics), athletes, & business professionals who are confronted with a variety of concerns.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
