To help understand and navigate the healing process, I draw upon psychodynamic/analytic, existential-humanistic, Jungian, experiential, ego-state, cognitive-behavioral, transpersonal, and trauma-informed orientations.
Whether one seeks relief from anxiety, trauma, relational impasses, or life disillusionment, therapy can help. It is unfortunate that insufficiently engaged approaches to therapy, prohibitive rates, and the unconscionable reluctance of most clinicians to accept insurance fail so many clients, who in good faith seek to discover a healing of heart and mind. As a psychodynamic therapist, I view my role as an empathic change agent employed to help bring about a fuller knowledge of self and a more liberated experience of life and relationship. I also supervise highly promising interns from NWU available for as low as $15-30 per session.

Are you asking yourself these questions? “Do I really need therapy?” “Can I really tell this stranger my thoughts?” “Will this person judge me?” Next, you tell yourself, “I don’t need help!” If you can identify with any of those questions, you may be ready to take the next step and start therapy. You can share your thoughts in a safe space without judgment.

Not accepting new clients
PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME. Have you reached the point where that self-critical voice in your head seems to be doing more harm than good? Do you long to feel more connected to others, but find it difficult to sustain joyful, thriving, relationships? Are you tired of having anxious thoughts or low mood rob you of experiencing joy in the present moment? Are feelings of sadness over past or recent losses making it hard for you to function as you normally would? Do you sense that healing wounds from the past could liberate you to flourish more now?

There are good days, bad days, and days that are completely overwhelming. You have never thought so much about your body in your life, and now you struggle with it every day. You remember when you trusted your body. There were times when you felt ill, but you recovered before. Now, your medical team is telling you that there is no going back to how things used to be. You are angry, you are frightened, you are hurting, and your loved ones are, too. Nobody seems to know exactly what to say, or what you need. It feels like a bomb has gone off in your life, and you are sifting through the rubble.

I join clients on their personal and professional journeys and support them in leveling up their lives! As a hybrid life coach and therapist, I offer support on achieving outcomes (such as "I want to find my mission in life" or "I want to feel really happy and energetic" or "I'm ready to open/level up my business") and I work with clients who are truly ready for growth! The bonus outcomes - my clients report increased self-confidence, clarity on life and purpose, assertiveness, increased joy, better relationships, and as a result they take bold steps into their authentic selves and write their own stories.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor operating primarily on a virtual platform, however, based on scheduling, I can offer in-person sessions in Austin and Bastrop. I have spent the past four years as a therapist supporting a wide variety of mental health needs. But I think an equally valuable part of my journey has been as a counseling client, learning first-hand what it is like for those who sit with me in session. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to have their mental wellness fostered, and I want to provide that space for you our meetings.

I believe that all individuals, couples and families are capable of working towards positive change. I respect and appreciate the unique nature of my clients' circumstances in life. As a therapist, I bring a very creative approach into the sessions. In the first session with clients, a unique plan of development begins to emerge.

I help other queer and neurodivergent folx live with anxiety, PTSD, grief, and interpersonal functioning issues. I’m a casual therapist who cusses, listens intently, initiates the hard conversations gently and directly, and offers the education and support you need to navigate and define your experience. A fundamental belief I hold as a therapist is that everyone is capable of change, but sometimes we don’t have the skills or support we need; I provide that support and care, giving you the space and freedom to explore who you are, who you want to be, and what you need to bring those two aspects of yourself into alignment.

I have over a decade of experience in the mental health field in Austin, working with an immensely diverse range of clients in an equally diverse range of environments—from public elementary schools to trails and pastures. I began my career as a campus-based therapist and case manager working in schools providing trauma therapy to children deemed at-risk. From there, I switched from the school setting to working on a horse ranch providing trauma-focused equine therapy to children and families. Prior to opening my own private practice, I was the clinical director of a group practice in Austin focused on inclusive mental healthcare.

The clients I typically work with are at a place where they want more out of their life; however, they feel stuck in patterns of unhealthy beliefs or behaviors. They know there is more that they are capable of but are unsure how to overcome the barriers they continue to experience, which lead them to a place of fear and hopelessness. In our work together, I will help you identify your sufferings and work alongside you to challenge you to gain the endurance to mold you into a new character. If you are ready for this, I have hope that the work we will do together will help you become a healthier version of yourself.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
