Although beautiful, life can bring chaos and moments of pain sometimes creating mental, emotional and spiritual wounds. Therapy can be a space to tend to those wounds finding strength in our adversity. I support clients by exploring their experiences integrating relational healing, spirituality, and grief work with the goal of overcoming hardships making space for more joy, wellness, and love.

I’m so glad you’re here. Taking this first step in getting support takes courage and true grit. My clients come from diverse backgrounds and experience anxiety, depression, and trauma. They often struggle with setting boundaries, managing stress, adjusting to a new phase in life, or navigating difficult relationships. Currently, I work with adolescents and adults utilizing a client-centered and attachment-based approach. Other modalities I practice include play and art therapy techniques, sand tray therapy, somatic, trauma focused, Dialectical Behavior (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindfulness-Based methods.

My goal while working with children is to open up their capacity to grow more self-aware and socially and emotionally intelligent. This allows me to focus on them as a person and who they are capable of becoming. This approach can help with a variety of concerns your child may face including: anxiety, social-emotional issues, depression grief, behavioral concerns, and trauma-related symptoms.

Sometimes we all need extra support or a safe place to turn when life seems overwhelming or confusing. Therapy can offer that support and provide a place to talk about things that may be difficult to share with anyone else. Whether you are struggling with life changes, feelings of sadness and anxiety, a sense of "stuckness", or ready to heal past traumas, therapy can and does provide relief and a new way of living.

In a session with me as your counselor, what you see is what you get. I model authenticity by being present with my clients. You’ll find me to be compassionate, empathetic, perseverant, and even silly at times. I’m a strong believer in the power of talk therapy to ‘get the poison out’ – poison in the form of fear, anxiety, depression, worry, and feeling stuck. I will help you improve your self-esteem, enhance your communication skills, and manage your emotions more effectively. I am also a couples therapist and I am currently finishing my AASECT certification as a Sex Therapist.

A licensed clinical social worker with more than 20 years of experience, I work with adults and teens dealing with depression, anxiety, dual-diagnosis (substance abuse), developmental disabilities, adoption issues, and trauma.
Being nervous about starting therapy is natural, which is why I work with each client to establish a relationship of honesty and openness so you can feel comfortable sharing your feelings. There is no magic wand in life but you don’t have to face challenges on your own. Therapy is a journey. I approach each session as a time to learn about you—what motivates you and what ails you. I understand the importance of each individual’s culture so I can fully understand you as a person. Together, we will determine the best possible solutions to address your individual needs.

Life provides us with so many experiences, both good and bad, and they all matter. There are times where we find ourselves unhappy or stuck, and unable to move forward toward what we want in life. Scheduling with a professional is a first step, and it's very much worth it. Friends and have family have told you, or you are feeling that it's time, on your own. We are unique, our experiences are our own, and there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to mental health. My approach to therapy is person-centered and integrative. It is important that you feel seen and heard, which often gets lost in today’s society.

Therapy can be a transformative process and journey. This is a journey that is all about YOU healing worth being on. My hope as a therapist is to bring compassion and curiosity into our work, and, together, co-create a space that feels authentic, transparent, and safe enough to explore past experiences of pain and trauma. When we gain insight into how our past influences our present, we open up our capacity for choice and step into new ways of being that align with our values. I am here to support you on your healing journey as your therapist.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
