Areas of specialty include: Marriage Therapy, Infidelity Issues (Sexual Addiction/Pornography - Assessment, Treatment and Recovery), PTSD, Brain Health, Forensic Mental Health (Assessments, Treatment and Supervised Care), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Group Psychotherapy.
Are you in search of solutions for marriage conflict and infidelity, sexual addiction treatment/recovery or PTSD? As C.S. Lewis once penned, "Pain is God's megaphone to man." Pain often negates one's hope but pain can also lead us to a surrender, where the door of hope awaits our opening to the possibilities of change that will be the genesis of better tomorrows. I understand the significance of investing the resources of time and finances in search of solutions. To honor clients' efforts, I expedite time together by using an extensive and in-depth personal history and a variety of assessment tools to develop the focus of care.

As an EMDR trained Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I love to help individuals like you reclaim a childhood that feels like it was lost to a demanding parent, or neglectful parent.
You wish you could make it stop. The little voice inside your head that tells you, “You’ll never be good enough.” You’re losing sleep. You feel exhausted. And yet you just can’t seem to get that little voice to be quiet, even for just a few minutes a day. It started when you were a child, from a critical parent who demanded you get straight As on your report card, participate in numerous sports, and volunteer on the weekend. And when you weren’t perfect, their disappointment was known. You were used to the silent treatment. You were used to being afraid of their reaction. You were used to the unachievable standard.

I use EMDR, CBT amongts other methods.
Our thoughts, feelings and behaviors create our experiences. As a psychotherapist I believe therapy is a process of creating change. Therapy allows a person to explore and develop skills of awareness and recognition of patterns that needs to be changed or recontructed. In therapy you will explore and develop these skills to effectively cope with psychological, personal and behavioral transitions. I work with each individual on finding the right balance of mind, body and spirit connection that gives the person the ability to better understand and bring clarity related to personal goals and plan for a healed and satisfying future.

This wasn't what you expected. You knew motherhood would be hard but you didn't expect it to be this hard. You might be feeling anxious, sad, full of rage, alone, guilty, insecure, or totally overwhelmed. The pressure to do it all and to get it all right with the baby, keep the house clean, call people back, maybe go back to work all while trying to physically (and mentally/emotionally) recover and adjust to this huge life change is a lot and you deserve to get appropriate support during this transition in your life.

I am a certified Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, IFS, and EFT professional with a body-mind-spirit integrative holistic approach that is warm, practical, and effective.
There is hope, even when we navigate life without an owner’s manual. We can learn how to understand our experiences and let go of anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal troubles. A bottom-up approach to integrating body, mind, and soul is necessary to tackle a new way of thinking, being, and doing. We start by gently befriending our body sensations and emotions because we don’t do as we think, we do as we feel. In that way, we learn to connect to our inner wisdom, inherent power, and resilience and move towards our best selves. These potential lives in you. Connection and inner safety are our birthrights.

I utilize Evidence Based Treatment modalities such as EMDR to help in reducing and alleviating the pain from trauma and distressing life experiences.
I provide counseling by incorporating both intuitively driven work as well as Psychodynamic and Evidence Based modalities. Infused within the work is the encouraged reconnection to both the soul and the natural world. I believe that during the healing process from all types of trauma we can learn/relearn the feeling of joy as well as experience post traumatic growth.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
