Are you in search of solutions for marriage conflict and infidelity, sexual addiction treatment/recovery or PTSD? As C.S. Lewis once penned, "Pain is God's megaphone to man." Pain often negates one's hope but pain can also lead us to a surrender, where the door of hope awaits our opening to the possibilities of change that will be the genesis of better tomorrows. I understand the significance of investing the resources of time and finances in search of solutions. To honor clients' efforts, I expedite time together by using an extensive and in-depth personal history and a variety of assessment tools to develop the focus of care.

Together we will explore limiting beliefs and messages that you hold deep inside as a result of your trauma (BigT or little t). Untreated it contributes to anxiety, substance abuse, depression, and/or codependency. This results in a repetitious pattern of self – sabotage. In fact, we can become addicted to the drama &chaos. A true source of unhappiness. Leaving you feeling stuck. I utilize modalities that actually move stuck energy. EMDR can reset negative core beliefs with a more adaptive positive belief using rapid eye movements & reprocessing disturbing events. You don’t even have to talk about them to have it be effective.

I primarily work with adults and young adults suffering from depression, anxiety, and/or addiction, in addition to those struggling with relational/communication issues. I take a highly personal, strengths-based, positive approach tailored to each client's individual needs. In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which directly targets negative thoughts, I use an acceptance-based approach by encouraging clients to accept, rather than negate, current thoughts patterns so that clients can move toward their values and start living meaningful and productive lives.

Are you struggling with addiction, maintaining complete sobriety or simply finding that proper balance between addiction, abuse, and healthy recreational use? Are traditional approaches not working for you? I am a licensed mental health counselor, specializing in addiction and trauma. Using modern research and interventions, I believe there is no such thing as a 'one size fits all' approach when it comes to addictions, unhealthy or unwanted habits. As an existential, humanistic counselor, I take a psychodynamic approach to treating individuals' personal needs, while simultaneously treating substance use and process addictions.

In that time I have served clients with a variety of mental health concerns and substance abuse issues.
Grief, loss, and burnout. We have all experienced it at one point or another in our lifetime. Loss comes in many shapes and forms, for some it presents itself as mourning the loss of a loved one, a colleague, a child. For others, loss presents itself as the idea of what might have been or even the thought "What could I have done differently? Could I have prevented this?" If you feel that you have been struggling with getting back into your life, connecting with others, showing up fully at work, or feeling detached help is out there.

I have a plethora of experience working with addiction and co-occurring disorders with individuals and families.
After 26 years working in the residential treatment industry I decided to share my experience, strength and hope in a new capacity. Now I share my passion for assisting others in finding their superpowers by offering counseling services to individuals, couples and families, supervision to developing therapists and consultation to agencies for program development, improvement and research. I adore seeing a family start to work together and every member of that family become their most effective. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor, I specialize in assisting individuals coping with trauma, addressing women's issues, facing addiction, and supporting veterans and first responders in their unique journeys.
My ideal client is someone eager to explore themselves and their issues, seeking self-discovery. They value introspection and personal growth, including understanding of themselves, others and the world around them. I don't impose change; rather, I encourage clients to approach themselves with curiosity, fostering self-driven transformation. I believe personal agency and accountability should be balanced with a healthy acknowledgement of the distinct challenges we face in our modern culture, and how these uniquely impact each individual.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
