I help my clients navigate the complexities of their relationships, both as partners and as parents. If you find yourself feeling stuck by cycling through the same argument with your partner, or if you want to reduce the overwhelm in parenting, then we will likely be a good fit. In our initial sessions, we will explore your family history to determine beliefs that you formed about relationships - both with yourself and others. My goal is to guide you in better understanding your relationship patterns so that you can heal past family trauma and attain more meaningful connections with others.

Each pod includes individual appointments, a weekly therapeutic group that meets Wednesday evenings, and parent support as needed.
Teenagers are living through exceptionally complicated times, so it's no surprise that their struggles have become common. I have focused on working with teenagers struggling to overcome a variety of emotional, behavioral, and social challenges for the past 25 years. I am the Owner of Alpine Behavioral Health, where I was also previously Clinical Director for many years. In addition to outpatient counseling, I have worked with at-risk teenagers at a wilderness therapy program in West Virginia and a working cattle ranch in eastern Idaho. I have also led international therapeutic adventure trips to Central and South America.

Conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD symptoms, and other challenges may be overwhelming and make it hard for you to get through the day. As your therapist I will walk this journey with you, supporting your goals, helping you heal, and celebrating your successes. I believe you are resilient, capable, and unbreakable.

Relationships can become strained which can be hard to navigate getting back on track. I am here to help with that. I work with individuals and families to narrow down the problems, focus on strengths, and create realistic and impactful goals for change.

I am a counselor with many years of overseas and cross-cultural experience, which has highlighted for me the strengths and challenges common to all people, no matter where we are from or now call home. Rocky transitions of all kinds, struggles with identity and unwanted behaviors, relationship and parenting issues, many types of loss and grief-are all areas I have experience in. I work with those who are interested in resolving past painful experiences, addressing present difficulties, and building towards a healthier future for themselves and those important to them.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
