Today, a record number of people are feeling alone, stressed, and disconnected. Many find themselves struggling with relationships, emotional expression, low mood, diminished energy, and a lack of confidence. Sound familiar? I am honored to work with individuals seeking support to reduce stress/anxiety, navigate grief, loss, and life transitions, improve interpersonal skills and relationships, build confidence, and feel more connected to their joy and vitality. I also enjoy supporting parents and children in fostering healthy social-emotional skills and navigating the challenges of parenthood.

My passion is supporting parents who have experienced difficult births. Bringing another life into this world is an important and challenging experience. Whether you are the individual who gave birth or a witness, there can be immediate and/or lasting waves of physical and emotional difficulties that may effect your life. These paths are unique to each of us because every birth is important and impactful. My work is to listen and journey with you as you explore your birth story and the impacts it has had on your life. Although this is an area of focus, I work with adolescents and adults needing support in other areas of life.

There is hope. Feeling stuck, pain, or discomfort is a natural part of being human, but the pain doesn't have to control your daily life. The challenges you face may stem from trauma, depression, anxiety, or the struggle to make a relationship succeed. I would like to get to know you and provide a space where you can show up just as you are; where transformation and healing can take place. Together we will help you embody your strengths and internal wisdom to break unhealthy patterns and help you move forward.

I support the process of connecting to your own inner light, even when you cannot see it yourself. If you find yourself blocked from your own inner-wisdom and light, I’m here to help. Perhaps you find yourself overwhelmed by trauma, grief, hurt, or other challenging life experiences. Perhaps you find your blocks manifesting as depression, anxiety, disordered eating, body image struggles, disconnection from others and yourself, or relationship issues. Perhaps you find yourself asking, “Isn’t life supposed to be more beautiful and free than this?”

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
