Are you feeling overwhelmed by a recent loss, a change in career, or a family issue? I can help you work through painful life experiences. Limiting patterns may be making it more difficult for you to find resolution or interfering with current relationships. Change can be difficult, but the rewards are vast. I pay close attention to your personal experience and am mindful of the body-mind connection. We can assess whether individual, couple or family therapy is best.

Waitlist for in person session. Working through difficult times makes us, and our relationships, stronger. Making the decision to begin therapy isn't always easy, but sometimes it's just what you need to get your life back on track. Despite the stereotype of a therapist being someone who will, "tell you what to do," my role is to listen and help you toward hearing your own answers. It can offer you insight and perspective so you can achieve what you are striving for in your life. Together, we can explore what is getting in the way of you living a happier life.

What courage it takes for you to just be here. Welcome. And thank you for taking this step. Life is challenging and my belief is that even with a little help, you can overcome those challenges and function at your best. The past can be your teacher, and time your healer. My belief is that when we stop fighting the past or our present hardships is when we can THRIVE. I will meet you where you are. We can go from there.

At Open Expressions, we know that in working with an individual, it is vital to gain a comprehensive understanding of the individual’s family as well as their broader socioecological circumstances.
Seeking treatment is difficult as the complexities of our emotional turmoil often makes it challenging to reach out for help. As the founder of Open Expressions, I believe that any therapeutic process commences with a safe and welcoming environment to those who are ready to begin their journey towards self-fulfillment in both their personal and professional lives.

Have you found yourself not knowing how to navigate a situation and suffering because of that? Have you tried "everything," but are still feeling trapped and immersed in psych suffering, which can manifest itself as isolation, self-criticism, hopelessness, worry, fear, dissatisfaction, interpersonal conflicts, mood changes, dissociation from reality, a sense of being persecuted, and so on? Have you wondered whether some of the issues you have dealt with - for instance, being incapable of doing things or repeatedly making bad choices - might tell something about your subjective dilemmas? This is the moment to make analysis.

Fees 15 min free initial phone call, $150 50 min session for individuals, $200 50 min session couples/family.
I believe therapy is a place where a client can feel safe to express his/her/they concerns without being judged. This is a place where you can come and talk about things you can't talk about with anyone else. Clients come into therapy to find answers to questions they can't find on their own. My goal is for each client to be able to use the tools developed in therapy and take them into the outside world. This is a place where we, as a team, can set realistic goals that are reachable by you, the client. I want each client to take steps to become the heathiest version of themselves.

We all live in a world of stories...The meaning we attach to these stories become a template of how we feel about ourselves. The emotional outcome of this thinking can be depression, anxiety and at other times, happiness. What is the meaning of these stories? I believe facts bring us to knowledge, but stories lead us to wisdom. Therapy is a creative and supportive process of getting to know your true self, of re-authoring the old story and writing a new one. Discover who you are... apart from the problem, and find an unexpected path to build inner strength and resources.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
