I have often explained the following analogy to motivate my patients to thrive: Replenish Your Well. The well water represents your resiliency; your ability to manage and respond appropriately to your environmental stressors. The bucket represents environmental and/or life stressors. Life is going to take buckets of water out of your well. Dustin Smith (pronouns: he/him) is an experienced licensed social worker who works with adolescents and adults. His specialties include: trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use issues, wellness, academic issues, anxiety, and depression. He utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.

I have been providing mental health services since 1985 and continue to be excited about helping people meet their potential. In the last 35 years through my various roles I have had the privilege of overseeing the treatment of tens of thousands of clients and helped develop hundreds of therapists using the best, evidenced based approaches to care. These experiences have allowed me to learn what works and doesn’t work in helping people meet their behavioral health needs. My goal is to now provide this knowledge and experience at a personal level to clients who have a strong desire to improve.

I have a Master's Degree in Social Work from The University of Hawaii with an emphasis in Behavioral Mental Health.
