I provide relational, psychodynamic, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, and culturally-responsive therapy to adults, couples, and teens. I am trained on the impact of trauma on the body and the brain, the connection between thoughts and behaviors, what motivates us to change, the relationship between people and their environment, and grief and loss. As a trauma-informed yoga instructor, I believe that there is a critical connection between the mind and body and assist in the process of helping the two work together in synchronicity toward healing.

My therapeutic approaches are integrative, holistic, multicultural, strength-based, relational, and experiential.
Seeking, entering into, and staying in therapy take a lot of courage. I believe therapy helps us reconnect more deeply with who we are and who we are becoming. Therapy gives us opportunities to explore what matters in our lives, how we affect one another individually or collectively, how we serve or support one another in our multi-layered environments, and how to cultivate meaningful relationships with people whom we encounter. Therapy offers opportunities to learn where we may be stuck emotionally and spiritually. In this process, we can find a “home” or a “safe and sacred” place within ourselves.

As a relational therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families as they navigate anxiety, depression, trust and communication, and life cycle transitions. I enjoy working with clients of all cultural backgrounds, sexualities and non-traditional relationships, as they navigate different phases of life. I hope to provide a communicative, collaborative space in which we can make meaning of the client's lived experiences to foster healing and growth on an interpersonal and intrapersonal level. As a queer, Asian-American woman of color, I hold space for the multiple identities in which clients identify.

My primary focus is to empower individuals on their therapeutic journeys by utilizing artistic practices and expression. Life isn’t one size fits all so it’s only fair that your therapy ought not be. My approach is integrative and includes elements of trauma and culturally informed practices, IFS, EMDR, DBT, feminist/Queer relational, psychodynamic, and client centered modalities. As a practicing interdisciplinary artist l utilize a variety of approaches to art making in my personal practice. Embodying a creative approach to healing that centers both empowerment and agency is at the center of my clinical practice.

Being human is weird and messy. Learning to live with our own thoughts and our internal narratives can be exhausting. I work well with clients addressing concerns related to anxiety, grief, burnout, relational challenges, adult family dynamics, work life balance, feelings of overwhelm, and depression. I have experience working with other health professionals on their own mental health journeys. I enjoy working with "overachievers" and "people pleasers" who are interested in living a life beyond their resume and reconnecting with themselves. I also enjoy supporting clients rebuilding life post brain injury and stroke.

I became a therapist to be of service to others! Bringing warmth to someone’s life has always been my goal. I enjoy working with couples, families, parents, individuals, and people from all walks of life with a focus on BIPOC and marginalized populations. Through a relational and trauma-informed lens, I assist and support my clients who may be dealing with anxiety, depression, complex trauma, relationship distress, and related issues. I understand this journey can be uniquely difficult for everyone, so cultivating space to deconstruct the stories and hardships are important for creating a different form of change for each person.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
